Reflections from the outgoing President
‘Working as one’ as a strong and supportive NHS finance family
With over twenty-five years of experience, Ed is dedicated to helping organisations understand and adapt to the complexities of the post-pandemic world.
In this session, Ed will draw upon his diverse expertise to shed light on the pressing challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. From climate change to disruptive innovation, Ed has a unique talent for making sense of intricate issues and presenting them in a clear and accessible manner.
Through his own experiences and insights, including his circumnavigation of the globe without flying, Ed will inspire us to rethink traditional approaches and embrace a more resilient, responsible, and sustainable future. He will discuss the importance of 'unlearning' past mistakes, asking the right questions, and moving beyond the discomfort of today to create better organisations tomorrow.

Event resources
The HFMA aims to embed sustainability into everything it does and to be a responsible organisation. Our environmental focus for our flagship event is centred around four themes: transport, energy, waste reduction and suppliers.
In 2023, with the help of our members, delegates and partners, we made some really positive steps forward, including offsetting our event's carbon emissions - 25.5 Tonnes of CO2e. Read the full report here.
But we know there's always more that we can do, and we're working hard on improving our performance year on year.
- Use a carbon-tracking travel planner to help you make the most environmentally friendly trip: Personalised Travel by You. Smart. Thing. (yousmartthing.com)
- Travel by public transport and/or use active travel to and from the venue, including the ‘last mile’. If public transport isn’t an option, fill your car with colleagues to bring that per person footprint down!
- Purchase an online licence for the event (available from Spring 2024), giving up all of your finance staff access to five days of event content either live or demand. Carbon footprint minimised and inclusivity gained!
- Refunds are not available for registrations made on or before 19 April 2024.
- Refunds on registrations made between 20 April and 31 October are available until 31 October 2024. A £50 administration charge will be applied to every registrant cancelled.
- Refunds are not available for late rate bookings made after 31 October 2024.
- Substiutions can be made at any time.
