Briefing / Roundtable: capital challenge
The health service must modernise its estate if it is to realise the ambitions of the NHS long-term plan. That means new buildings in some places, while addressing significant levels of backlog maintenance. A recent HFMA roundtable – supported by health and care property development company Prime – discussed the challenges ahead.
The finance directors and capital project experts at the roundtable explored a number of key issues. These included how system capital plans are developing to meet the requirements of the long-term plan and the health infrastructure plan and how priorities are currently being identified. It also discussed funding options being considered and the readiness of in-house teams to meet the demands of an expanded building programme.Related content
