News alert / Right to work checks

NHS Employers has announced updates to the NHS right to work checks standard. These reflect Home Office policy on asylum-seekers who are allowed to volunteer for charities or public sector organisations while their claim for permission to live and work in the UK is considered. Organisations are not required to alter their usual right to work checking processes, but should be aware of the differences if asylum seekers apply to volunteer within the NHS. All relevant safeguarding checks still need to be undertaken. The updates can be found in section 4.3 of the right to work checks standard.
