News alert / PAC: no confidence in hospital building programme
The Public Accounts Committee has published a highly critical report about the lack of progress in the government new hospital programme. The MPs said they had no confidence that the government would deliver the new hospitals it promised by the 2030 target date. It raised concerns that hospitals would be built too small and that there would be insufficient funds to build all the hospitals as planned. The report also made a number of recommendations to support swifter action to tackle reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete in hospital buildings. (See News.)
