News alert / HMRC webinar on partial exemption
HM Revenue and Customs is running a webinar about partial exemption specifically for NHS bodies. The webinar will be held on 27 February 2024 at 11:45-12.45. HMRC recognises from compliance activity that certain easements regarding partial exemption have historically been used in the NHS sector. A Statement of practice was sent to all NHS bodies on 9 October 2023. This said that those easements must stop and that correct processes must be followed with effect from 1 April 2024. If HMRC undertakes a compliance check and finds there are partial exemption errors, it will be obliged to consider whether a behavioural penalty would apply. This webinar is intended to assist NHS bodies with their understanding of the partial exemption process and reduce the need for interventions. NHS bodies are encouraged to share these details with relevant colleagues to register for access to view the webinar. (Please note that the webinar is only being run once, although the registration page says that it is being offered several times.)
