News alert / Access to dentistry
The government has admitted it must do more to ensure that everyone can access an NHS dentist. In a response to a Health and Social Care Committee report published in July, which highlighted a ‘crisis of access’, health minister Victoria Atkins said the government accepted the majority of the recommendations and recognised there was ‘still much more to be done'. She promised 'a dentistry recovery plan, which will be published shortly, will build upon our initial reforms and make further progress in line with the Committee’s recommendations’.
