About this webinar

The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries defines impactability as the degree to which different sub-populations will benefit from a range of interventions. Impactability modelling uses this information to tailor appropriate interventions within agreed boundaries for the 'value' gained from resources spent.

The success of risk stratification at the whole-population level depends not just on identifying those most at risk of an adverse event, but rather in identifying those who are most at risk and most likely to respond positively to a given intervention – i.e. to be ‘impactable’. The combination of risk stratification, impactability modelling and actuarial variability analysis can not only help to target the most promising patients for medical management, but also support the improvement of resource allocation across a local health economy.

In this webinar, Jane and David provide an overview of impactability modelling, which supports a more targeted approach to interventions and population health management. They also consider what the potential finance barriers are and discuss the use of data science and machine learning/artificial intelligence in supporting impactability modelling. They identify the opportunities for finance staff to work more closely with informatics colleagues.
