Wales NHS has traditionally defaulted onto importing ready made and qualified staff to cover shortages . Now Prof Karel Williams of Manchester University looks at the composition of costs in health services and argues that “ grow your own “ is a big opportunity to get wages into Welsh households and create more opportunity for our people. Then, Sarah Simmonds ( Director of Workforce Development) and Dr Paul Edwards (Associate Medical Director) explain how Aneurin Bevan University Health Board are going about growing their own.
