In the first of our planned 'sector series' join HFMA South West for an insightful exploration into the financial intricacies of the South West Ambulance Service NHS FT.
In this session, our speakers will provide a brief overview of SWASFT along with an insight into where ambulance service funding goes and how financial strategies have adapted to meet the evolving healthcare demands. We will also be addressing the pressing questions of, ‘how are ambulance services funded?’ and ‘how has funding changed in recent years?’.

Andrew Rosser, director of finance, South West Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust
Executive Director of Finance and Infrastructure
Andrew joined SWAST in August 2021. His responsibilities include Finance, Procurement, Commissioning, Estates and Stores functions.
Before joining the ambulance service, his experience was in the commercial sector mostly in the Airline Industry. Andrew is Chartered Accountant. Outside of work he enjoys walking his dog in the Devon countryside and sailing as often as work allows.
Jonathan James, deputy director of finance, South West Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust
Jonathan joined West country Ambulance Service in December 2000 and was the finance lead for the Trust Foundation Trust application and the acquisition of Great Western Ambulance Service.
His responsibilities include the Finance, Procurement, Commissioning & Charity teams. Jonathan is a CIMA qualified Accountant.
Outside of work Jonathan is a keen sportsman involved in coaching and playing Cricket, Rugby and Hockey with his family.
