Innovation and Digital Technology award

We will outline our transformative Finance Reporting Project that has redefined the way OUH reports financial data but also analyses it, enhancing our decision-making capabilities and driving operational efficiencies within the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. By implementing Power BI, we have revolutionised the processes within the month end cycle allowing quicker, easier access to detailed breakdowns of the accounts and speeding up necessary analytical work. This will include:

•    Use of Office 365 Power tools, including Power Automate and Power BI.
•    Building a Finance database to fuel Power BI analytics Power Automate, Power BI, and Dax.
•    Automating SPC Charts for Enhanced Reporting using Power BI.
•    Power Automate to streamline routine transactions by generating and posting journals.
•    Reducing reporting timetables and enhancing financial insights.

Financial Performance Team award

In a post Covid world where productivity has become a key challenge this team have sought to innovate every day to ensure OUH has the best possible understanding of its position. The team have transformed internal and external financial reporting by bringing together valuable data including workforce metrics, activity data and patient experience information. This gives readers of the reports a real understanding of where challenges exist and how operational issues link with the financial problems. It means that the management team are better able to focus on where resource can be directed to improve both the financial position and patient experience. This will include:

•    The use of SPC charts, with the Trust now adopting them in many areas of reporting from workforce information to theatre utilisation.
•    Development of a dashboard of productivity measures to support the executive in their understanding of productivity and efficiency in the Trust.
•    Development of an internal methodology for replicating the WAU measure from model hospital.
