About this event

This online forum bought together the finance functions from across the four nations to consider the important part NHS colleagues play in delivering effective and financially sustainable patient outcomes and services.

    To give a brief overview of the Highland demographics, our past as a challenged Health and Social Care system and the approach we are taking to move towards sustainability.

    In June 2022, HSC NI established the Performance and Transformation Executive Board, the remit of which included the driving forward and implementation of regional and system-wide operational improvements and transformation. As part of the programme a Regional Agency Reduction Implementation Steering Group was established to develop and implement a plan to safely facilitate and manage the service impact of reducing unsustainable agency and locum expenditure.

    During 2023/24 HSC has effectively removed general utilisation of off-contract nurse agency entirely. This presentation talks through the case for change, the critical success factors which enabled this system-wide change including the whole-system collaboration, local factors and other co-dependencies.
