Digital health technologies (DHTs), which include digital apps, interventions and services, are developing fast. Rapid, widespread adoption by the NHS of effective and efficient DHTs would benefit both patients and health and care professionals. For example, digital tools can help patients with long-term conditions to manage their conditions more effectively and enable staff time to be used more efficiently.

Despite these potential benefits, uptake of DHTs varies widely across the NHS and social care, and has been slow in some areas. Part of the reason is that it’s not always clear to patients and professionals which products are safe and beneficial, or how they should be adopted, used and paid for.

To help improve uptake of beneficial digital products, NHS England (NHSE) and the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) are developing a policy framework to help guide the use and reimbursement of DHTs. The framework will clearly set out the standards products should meet and the routes for commissioning and paying for products.

This webinar provides an introduction to the draft policy framework and provide an opportunity for questions, comments and discussion of the proposals.
