HFMA UK president Paul Assinder addressed the US HFMA Annual National Institute in Las Vegas in June. The conference, which had faced a late venue change following flooding in Nashville, is the American equivalent of the UK association’s annual conference – but on a bigger scale. Total attendance reaches around 4,500 with a massive 400 exhibitors. Despite the different approaches to funding health, the UK and US systems face common challenges of cutting costs and improving quality.
