Four finance directors have been shortlisted in the competition to be HFMA Finance Director of the Year.

On the shortlist for the top finance prize are Caroline Clarke (Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust); Ismail Hafeji (Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust); Tim Goodson (NHS Dorset); and Rob Forster (Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust).

Several of these trusts have made it onto other shortlists – Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHSFT for the costing and Havelock training awards and NHS Dorset for Accounts Team of the Year.

The other candidates for Accounts Team of the Year are Alder Hey Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust; Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust; and Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. The Costing Award line-up is completed by Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust; Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust; and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

FTs dominate the Efficiency Award shortlist: a joint entry from Countess of Chester NHS Foundation Trust and Wirral University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust; Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust; and Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The only non-foundation on the list is the Northern Ireland Health and Social Care Board.

The full shortlists for the eight awards are on page 10 of this issue. The winners will be announced on 6 December at the HFMA annual conference.
