A total of 24 organisations or individuals have been shortlisted for this year’s HFMA Awards. Four finance directors aim to succeed last year’s winner, Paul Hinnigan, in the prestigious Finance Director of the Year category.

This year’s contenders are:

  • Jeremy Cook, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust
  • Keith Griffiths, Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust
  • Nora Ann Heery, University of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust
  • Steve Webster, North Bristol NHS Trust.

This year, a new award will also be presented recognising the work of deputy directors of finance. The shortlist for Deputy Finance Director of the Year includes:

  • Andy Ray, Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS FT
  • Elaine Konieczny, Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust
  • Simon Covill, Whipps Cross University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Some trusts have received multiple nominations – Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh has been shortlisted in three categories – Efficiency and Clinician of the Year, as well as Finance Director of the Year – while Basildon and Thurrock was shortlisted in two – Efficiency and Deputy Finance Director.
