News / FT insurance briefing
A newly released HFMA briefing opens the lid on the complex world of insurance for foundation trusts.
The briefing, produced under the guidance of the HFMA FT Finance Technical Issues Group and sponsored by broker Griffiths and Armour, aims to improve understanding of how the insurance market works. It also explains what is and isn’t covered by the various policies available to top up cover provided by the NHS Litigation Authority.
The briefing also attempts to learn from existing experience of insurance within the FT community, including lessons from the Royal Marsden NHS FT following a fire in 2008.
The briefing is informed by a survey of FTs examining top-up insurance arrangements currently in place.
