Clinical commissioning groups dominate the shortlist for Best New Organisation in the 2013 HFMA Awards. The award, to recognise the most effective and innovative new organisation, is one of nine categories this year.

The shortlisted candidates are:

  • Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group
  • Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group
  • A compact of Fareham and Gosport Clinical Commissioning Group, Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group and South Eastern Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group
  • North Yorkshire and Humber Commissioning Support Unit.

Four candidates have been shortlisted for the Finance Director of the Year Award:

  • Jeff Buggle, East Kent Hospitals University NHS FT
  • Keith Loveman, Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS FT
  • Colin Martin, Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS FT
  • Bill Shields, Imperial College London Healthcare NHS Trust.

Imperial has been shortlisted in four categories overall, including the nomination for finance director of the year. It is also up for the Efficiency and Innovation Award, Governance Award and Havelock Training Award.

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust has been shortlisted for two awards – Accounts Team of the Year and the Havelock Training Award. Three further trusts – Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust; Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust; and South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust – complete the Accounts Team shortlist.

The awards will be presented at a special ceremony on 5 December as part of the HFMA annual conference.
