News / Awards shortlist unveiled

Twenty one organisations and individuals have been shortlisted for this year’s HFMA Awards.

Four finance directors are up for the prestigious Finance Director of the Year Award, last year won by Sue Jacques (pictured), finance director and deputy chief executive of County Durham and Darlington. This year’s contenders are Wendy Galbraith (Belfast Health and Social Care Trust), Claire Yarwood (NHS Salford), Paul Hinnigan (NHS Blackburn with Darwen) and Tim Welch (Blackpool Fylde & Wyre Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust).

A new award this year is the Working with Finance Clinician of the Year Award, recognising a clinician who has gone the extra mile in engaging with financial management.

Two clinicians are shortlisted: Dr Ellen Wilkinson (Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust) and Dr Steve Allder (Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust).

In all, three organisations – Mersey Care NHS Trust, Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS FT and NHS Brent – make up the shortlist for Accounts Team of the Year.

The full portfolio of awards includes awards for efficiency, governance and charitable funds management, as well as the Havelock Training Award.
